Welcome to Aylesbury Canine Training Society We are a Kennel Club registered society, and run the Kennel Club’s Good Citizen Dog Scheme covering the Puppy Foundation, Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.
We run basic puppy training and socialisation classes for all breeds, and can accommodate some older dogs which need a grounding in basic pet obedience. We find that these classes are generally not suited to dogs which have clear behaviour problems, as these will usually require more specialist attention which we are unable to provide within our training environment.
Our Instructors are all volunteers, however they have many years of experience to share. We train using positive reinforcement, encouraging the use of suitable rewards to help train the dog. We concentrate on training in the three disciplines of Obedience, Agility and Working Trials.
We are a friendly club and we are able to accommodate members who just want to have fun with their dogs as well as those who would like to compete. We currently have a few junior members who join in our regular classes and often participate in Young Kennel Club activities. Juniors must generally be at least 12 years old, will be assessed to ensure that they have proper control over the dog, and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at training venues.
If you are looking for a friendly, active training club you are welcome to call in at our obedience training venue at Jubilee Hall, Bierton, (map) on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm to see what we are doing and introduce yourself.
When you come, there is obviously no obligation to sign up if you decide not to. But in case you decide we are just what you are looking for, it would be very helpful (and save a lot of time on the night) if you could download, and print off, and complete the Membership Application and Course Enrolment form and bring it with you.
We would very much like to meet you and your dog, and have to ask that you bring your dog’s vaccination certificate so that we can check the dog is fully protected before mixing with other dogs at the club.
